Provincial Overview

Kompong Chhnang Province has applied the Rectangular Strategy of Cambodian government as followed:

1.   Promote of Agriculture Sector

4.   Capacity Building and Human Resources Development

In order to achieve the Provincial Policy and Strategy, Kompong Chhnang Province defined 5-year development plan and prepared the 3-year movement forward program. They are the visions to achieve the provincial policy and strategy.

Why invest in the province?

Kompong Chhnang Province is located in the middle of Camodia. Its border is Kompong Thom in the north, Kompong Cham in the east, Kompong Speu in the south, and Pursat in the west. It is 91 kilometers from Phnom Penh, Capital City of Cambodia.

It is warm and humid as other provinces. Its rainy season starts from May to October (27c to 35c, 90% humidity). Winter is from November to March( 18c to 28c) and summer is from March to May( 28c to 36c). The Tonle Sap River which is one of the tributaries brings a large field of alluvial to Kompong Chhnang Province. Phnom Penh which is a capital city of Cambodia will be extended to the border of Kompong Chhnang Province.

Demography

Its population is 472 616, 3.6% of Cambodian population(Cambodian Data 2011). There are 259 347 males and 278 816 females. The population growth rate is 2.4%. 85.5% are farmers, 7.5% are businesspeople, 6% are fisherman and 1% is government staff.
