Brief Description of the Provincial Policy / Strategy
Provincial Vision: "Be the Indochina's logistics and ecotourism hub. Food crops, energy, food safety "
Provincial Strategy 1: Improve logistics system to facilitate transportation and distribution of goods in a timely manner and support the logistics to become the hub of Indochina region.
Provincial Strategy 2: Improve the factors and processes of agricultural production to be more effective in accordance with the zoning conditions to serve as a source of alternative energy crops and food for the province.
Provincial Strategy 3: Rehabilitating tourist sites and improving tourist facilities to enhance the environment to facilitate ecotourism and linkage to Khmer cultural history.
Provincial Strategy 4: Enhancing the learning process and the environment of the people to adapt to the profession and a good quality of life.
Provincial Strategy 5: Empowering people, communities and areas along the border to be safe and secure. To support the competition in the ASEAN community.

Sa Kaeo Special Economic Zone
“Agro-Processing Industries and Multimodal Transportation”
• 4 sub-districts along the border area of Aranyaprathet and Watthana Nakhon districts with a total area of 332.0 sq. km. (207,500 rai)
• 260 km. east of Bangkok via Highway No. 304
• Aranyaprathet International Border Checkpoint is a permanent check-point connecting Banteay Meanchey Province in Cambodia, with the highest cross–border trade value between Thailand and Cambodia
Competencies and Opportunities
• A highly competent area for international wholesale and retail trading as Aranyaprathet is located 250 km. away from Laem Chabang Seaport and 260 km. away from Bangkok
• Located in the GMS Southern Economic Corridor which is an important channel for Thailand to transport goods to Phanom Penh and Southern Vietnam. In addition, there is an opportunity for co-production with Poipet- O’neang Special Economic Zone in Cambodia in which the majority investment is labour-intensive projects from Thailand i.e. garment factories, jewelry box manufacturing
• Can benefit from Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), a preferential tariff system offered by developed countries to developing countries by reducing or exempting import tariffs on the GSP product list

Natural Resources
1. Forest:
The current forest in Sa Kaew has a total area of 861,999,518 rai or 19.17% of the total area. There are two National Parks, 1 wildlife sanctuary and 10 national forests.
The problem in local area is the smuggling, deforestation and forest invasion, the main cause of the illegal act because there is the increasing of population and the demand for land for the people.
2. Sa Kaew Water Resources:
There are 12 major natural water resources, 244 canals. The average flow of water are 2,532.660 million cubic meters and the area has the potential to retain approximately 1,154.305 million cubic meters of water. However, at present there are only water reservoirs approximately 376.705 million cubic meters or 15 percent of the average flow. There is irrigation area of 244,838 rai, which accounted for 10.4 percent of the farmland.

Bus There is Bus service depart from Mo Chit Bus Terminal and Ekkamai Bus Terminal every day, several rounds a day. It takes about 4 hours. |

Train State Railway of Thailand service train from Bangkok - Sa Kaeo - Aranyaprathet 2 times a day. The first train departs from Bangkok at 05.55 am, arrive to Sa Kaeo at 10.32 am., and arrive Aranyaprathet at 11.30 am And the second train, depart from Bangkok at 13.05 pm to Sa Kaeo at 17.25 pm and arrive to Aranyapathet at 18.20 pm. The return train has 2 times a day. The first train leaves Aranyaprathet at 06.30 am to Sa Kaeo at 07.26 am and arrives in Bangkok at 11.30 am. And the 2nd train depart from Aranyaprathet time 13.35 pm to Sa Kaeo at 14.37 pm and arrive to Bangkok at 19.30 pm. |
