Brief Description of the Provincial Policy / Strategy

Provincial Strategy:

  1. Develops basic infrastructure and social services, as well as maintains the local culture of the province sustainability for Trat population to have the good quality of life.
  2. Promote and develop agricultural products and community products to standard quality. To increase farmers and community income under the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.
  3. Encourage and develop eco-friendly tourism and tourism links to the international level.
  4. Promote and develop trade and border trade systems, to support Trat as a gateway to Indochina.
  5. Conservation, rehabilitation, and management of natural resources and environment to remain sustainable
  6. Strengthen internal security and peace along the border and coast including good relationships with the international.

Trat province is a climate that is conducive to the cultivation of various fruits, so it is a famous province as a delicious fruit market such as durian, rambutan, longan, salacca wallichiana and pineapple etc. (Fruit will be available in the middle of April onwards, the new release period price range will be slightly high)

Well-known for its beautiful islands and beaches, Trat also has a list of interesting attractions for tourists. With its rich natural resources and convenient access by road transportation and daily commercial flights, Trat has a high potential in becoming Thailand’s major tourist destination city. The province is divided into 7 districts; Mueang Trat, Khlong Yai, Laem Ngop, Ko Kut, Ko Chang, etc.

Labor and employment in Trat province is characterized by cyclical labor migration. It is an agricultural area, the population is the labor force of the province who live in the agricultural sector majority to help households in farming. When the harvest season is over, they will move to find jobs in industrial sectors in other provinces and will move back to the agricultural sector again in the growing season. This cycle is like a cyclical every year. This may cause some shortage of labor in some seasons. There are also employing 3 foreign nationals (Myanmar, Lao PDR, and Cambodia) as labor force around 17.97% of the total of labor work force of the province.

Trat province has a total forest area of 609,571 rai, representing 34 percent of the province. Forest land is a mixed forest. And rainforest

 

Water Resource

Trat province has a rainfall of about 4,000 mm per year and has a water volume of 5,490.56 million cubic meters. It flows into the sea at 5,281.56 million cubic meters a year. Water retention capacity is 209 million cubic meters.

 

In Trat province There are two major rivers:

1) The Trat River, which is the largest river. The upstream of the mountain range runs through many districts ranging from Khlong Yai District, Bo Rai District, and flowing into the sea at Muang District.

2) The Ve-ru River is a river that separates Trat and Chanthaburi which flows through the agricultural districts of both provinces.

Provincial Electricity Authority Trat

There are 82,081 users using electricity in the province, energy sales 511,397,073 kWh.

There are 24,292 users using water in the province, water produced 7,865,161 cubic meters, and water sold 5,472,462 cubic meters.

Road

Driving distance from Bangkok to Trat is 320 km. Driving time from Bangkok Airport to the mainland pier is around 4 and a half hours.   From the center of Bangkok add on another 30 minutes to an hour. 

 

Follow the motorway out of Bangkok until you see Highway 344 to Trat city then Join Highway 3 near Klaeng and then, about 23km outside Trat, turn left at the T-junction with 3156 to the pier for traveling to Islands.

Transportation

Bus

Air-con buses with toilets run between Trat town and Bangkok's Ekkamai (Eastern) terminal every 30 minutes to an hour until 23:30, costing 270 baht and taking around six hours. The first bus leaves Ekkamai at 5:00, Trat at 7:00. 

Air-con buses run between Trat and Morchit (Northern) terminal in Bangkok roughly every three hours from 8:30 to 17:30. A Morchit bus also departs in either direction at 23:00. 

All Trat-bound buses will stop in Chanthaburi, and most buses to/from Morchit stop at Suvarnabhumi Airport. 

Minibuses also run between Trat bus station and Bangkok's Ekkamai terminal roughly every hour from 5:00 to 19:00, costing 270 baht and taking around five hours. These can be booked through guesthouses for 300 baht including pick up. 

Bookable only through guesthouses, a minibus departs at 13:00 daily for Khao San Road in Bangkok, costing 350 baht.
