Well-known for its beautiful islands and beaches, Trat also has a list of interesting attractions for tourists. With its rich natural resources and convenient access by road transportation and daily commercial flights, Trat has a high potential in becoming Thailand’s major tourist destination city. Labor and Employment Labor and employment in Trat province is characterized by cyclical labor migration. It is an agricultural area, the population is the labor force of the province who live in the agricultural sector majority to help households in farming. When the harvest season is over, they will move to find jobs in industrial sectors in other provinces and will move back to the agricultural sector again in the growing season. This cycle is like a cyclical every year. This may cause some shortage of labor in some seasons. There are also employing 3 foreign nationals (Myanmar, Lao PDR, and Cambodia) as labor force around 17.97% of the total of labor work force of the province. |

Trat Special Economic Zone
“Trade and Distribution Center, Multimodal Transport and Regional Tourist Hub”
- 3 sub-districts along the border area of Khlong Yai District with a total area of 50.2 sq. km. (31,375 rai)
- 420 km. east of Bangkok via Motorway No. 7 (Bangkok-Chonburi’s New Route) and Highway No. 344, 3, and 31
- Ban Hat Lek International Border Checkpoint is a permanent checkpoint connecting Koh Kong Province in Cambodia
Competencies and Opportunities
- Located on the Southern Coastal Economic Corridor (SCEC), Trat is 340 km. from Laem Chabang Seaport in Thailand, and 250 km. from Sihanoukville Seaport in Cambodia
- Tourism destination and connects to Koh Kong Special Economic Zone (Cambodia) which has foreign investment i.e. auto assembler (Hyundai), volleyball manufacturer (Mikasa) and electric cable used in automobiles (Yazaki)

Trat province has a total forest area of 609,571 rai, representing 34 percent of the province. Forest land is a mixed forest. And rainforest
Water Resource
Trat province has a rainfall of about 4,000 mm per year and has a water volume of 5,490.56 million cubic meters. It flows into the sea at 5,281.56 million cubic meters a year. Water retention capacity is 209 million cubic meters.
In Trat province There are two major rivers:
1) The Trat River, which is the largest river. The upstream of the mountain range runs through many districts ranging from Khlong Yai District, Bo Rai District, and flowing into the sea at Muang District.
2) The Ve-ru River is a river that separates Trat and Chanthaburi which flows through the agricultural districts of both provinces.

Trat has high tourism potential, due to the diversity of tourism resources whether natural attraction, historical and cultural attractions especially beach and sea tourism attraction.
There are 52 small islands that are popular for Thai and foreign tourists. It also has the potential to be a tourist city, linked to neighboring countries nationwide such as Cambodia and Vietnam.

Road Driving distance from Bangkok to Trat is 320 km. Driving time from Bangkok Airport to the mainland pier is around 4 and a half hours. From the center of Bangkok add on another 30 minutes to an hour.
Follow the motorway out of Bangkok until you see Highway 344 to Trat city then Join Highway 3 near Klaeng and then, about 23km outside Trat, turn left at the T-junction with 3156 to the pier for traveling to Islands. |
